TYPE HISTORY POSTER

I chose to honor the history of the ampersand ligature for my type history poster because I always admired the beauty and versatility of the glyph’s design. My favorite thing about the ampersand is that unlike most glyphs, it gives type designers almost unlimited creative freedom in its design. I used a timeline to represent the progression of the character’s physical evolution over time. I also created a grid of modern ampersands to show off the vast variety and individuality of ampersands as well as how much the glyph has developed.

OBJECTIVE: Choose a topic related to typography and create an informational, engaging history poster

ROLES: Research, ideation, typographic design, print design.
